Firstly, I would like to apologise for not doing last month's newsletter. There was a fish well worthy of a mention: Gary Fields had his PB gilthead bream of 5lb 14oz (167.86%).
Well done, Gary! That was the fish of the month, winning you the £10. Hopefully, Matt has already sorted that out.
We have had a few new members since the last newsletter. I'd like to welcome them to the club and thank them for joining.
May's competitions were a shore rover and a boat comp. Unfortunately, both were not very successful, with only one fish coming to the scales on the shore rover. Well done, Bill! Nothing was caught on the boat rover.
We have had a few fish submitted this month by club members:
Good to see the juniors out again:
Well done, all! It would be nice if we could see a few more boat fish start to come in.
June's competitions are as follows:
I have put up a post/poll about the fact we have 56 members but only a few fish coming to the scales. We would like to understand why and if there is anything we can do to overcome this.
The club's worth will be updated next month. We are currently around £1,100.
The password for June is HOTEL.
Thank you, and tight lines!
I would firstly like to welcome new members with the good times to come. We will smash it!
8 juniors and 47 seniors
March has seen some fantastic weather and some monster tides.
It's good to see the plaice are making an appearance—not in huge numbers, but nevertheless, they are in.
11 fish weighed in, with 4 of them being specimen fish, a couple of which are absolutely cracking.
We held our second rover match. Even though the fish forgot to turn up, several of us managed to get out in that glorious weather. Most of us blanked, but Steve King had a fantastic day doing his thing.
We also held heat 3 of the boat comp.
Again, good attendance with a few boats heading out, but unfortunately, the fish didn't play ball, and only 2 came to the scales.
Thank you to those that commit to the club weigh-ins.
We feel it's just as important for us to get together as it is for everyone to get out fishing.
And thank you again to the railway social club that has allowed us to hold our meetings and weigh-ins at their premises. It would be good if we could get a few more attending, but I'm sure that will happen when the season picks up a bit more.
So here goes, I'll start with the boat side:
Top spot was taken by Clive Way
Out on his son's boat, Sea Kia, with a spur dog of 17lb 4oz (143.75%).
Followed by, in 2nd, Chris Way on his boat, Sea Kia, with a spur dog of 12lb 8oz (104.17%).
His dad still showing him how it is done—well done, men!
And now for the shore standings:
Top spot goes to Steve King with a gilthead bream of 3lb 8oz 12dr (101.34%).
Well done to all!
Clive Way has won the boat £10 voucher kindly donated by SouthWest Sea Baits.
Steve King has won the £10 voucher for the shore side.

This weekend coming, 6th March, is the Whitsands boat comp (if the weather plays ball, but it’s looking unlikely).
The following weekend is a fixed event for the shore rover, 13th March, 06:30 till 18:00 at East Portlemouth. Weigh-in will be in the car park at the end of the session, 18:30 till 19:00.
At every weigh-in from now on, we will be doing football scratch cards:
£2 per team (40 teams) — winner takes £40.
£5 card (40 teams) — winner takes a whopping £150.
We will announce the winners either at the weigh-in once sold or live on Facebook. The remaining money will go to the club.
